What is Precision Casting?

Precision casting is a manufacturing method that creates near-net-shape metal components with outstanding surface finish and tight tolerances (often within ±0.1 mm). By replicating intricate designs with minimal post-processing, it eliminates the need for extensive machining, making it a cost-effective choice for complex parts.

 

 

The Precision Casting Process: Step by Step

Our state-of-the-art workflow ensures consistency and quality at every stage:

1. Master Pattern Creation
A 3D model of the part is designed and used to produce a wax or resin prototype, often via 3D printing for rapid prototyping.

2. Mold Assembly
Wax patterns are attached to a central “sprue” to form a cluster, mimicking a tree-like structure.

3. Ceramic Shell Building
The assembly is repeatedly dipped into ceramic slurry and coated with refractory materials, building a heat-resistant shell.

4. Dewaxing
The mold is heated to melt and drain the wax, leaving a hollow ceramic cavity in the exact shape of the part.

5. Metal Pouring
Molten metal (e.g., stainless steel, aluminum, superalloys) is poured into the preheated ceramic mold.

6. Cooling & Shell Removal
After solidification, the ceramic shell is broken away, revealing the raw casting.

7. Finishing
Components undergo cutting, grinding, heat treatment, or surface finishing to meet exact specifications.
